Description

Barricade is a handcrafted wooden strategy game built by Creative Crafthouse for up to 4 players. Roll the die, race your marbles up the board toward the single center goal, and drop barricades in the path to stop everyone chasing you. The first player to land a marble on the top goal wins. It plays in about 30 minutes and rewards the player who blocks at the right moment, not just the luckiest roll.

We build this as a heirloom-grade edition, not a flat printed board. The track is a solid hardwood panel with each stop drilled as a real cradle, so the marbles seat instead of sliding around. The board folds in half on a center hinge and holds the marbles and die in a recessed storage well inside, so the whole game closes up and stores flat between game nights.

What is the Barricade Game?

Barricade is a wooden strategy game for up to 4 players. Each player races their marbles up the board toward one shared goal at the top while dropping barricade pieces to block the other players. It is a race-and-block game: the first player to land a marble on the top goal wins, and a well-timed barricade matters as much as the roll. We build a heirloom-grade wooden edition of this classic game.

How do you play, and how does a barricade work?

You roll the die and move one of your marbles that many steps toward the top goal, turning corners along the track. The twist is the barricade pieces. A barricade sits on the track and no one can move past it until a player lands on it and captures it, then moves it to a new open spot to block someone else. There is one center goal at the top of the board, so everyone is racing to the same finish and fighting over the same chokepoints. The first marble to reach the goal wins.

How many players, and how long does it take?

It plays 2 to 4 players and runs about 30 minutes. It works well as a two-player duel and gets more cutthroat with three or four, because there are more marbles and more barricades fighting over the same path.

What is included?

The folding wooden board, marble player pieces, the barricade pieces, one wooden die, and a rules sheet. The board folds in half and the marbles and die store in a recessed well inside, so everything stays in the box.

What is it made of, and how is it built?

It is a solid hardwood board, not a printed cardboard one. Every stop on the track is drilled as a real cradle so the marbles seat in place instead of rolling around, and the board folds on a center hinge with an interior storage well. We laser engrave rather than print, so any personalization is cut into the wood and will not wear off. This is the difference between our edition and the thin mass-market wooden versions: it is built to be handed down, not replaced.
