Jumbo Enigma Cipher Gears are oversized cipher wheels built for escape rooms. Each gear is 15.75 inches across, big enough to read across a dim room and to hang as part of the set. The 37 teeth carry the full alphabet, the ten digits, and a period, so a clue can run on letters, numbers, or both. We built the first set for an escape room in the United Kingdom and added them to the catalog after. We make them in our family workshop in Hudson, Florida.

This listing is for one gear. Gears mesh with each other, so you can string two, three, or a whole wall of them and have one wheel drive the rest. Set a fixed marker point beside a start wheel, have a player dial the character you gave them as a clue, and whatever lands on the connected gear is the answer. Dial a key word in one character at a time and a hidden message comes out the other side.

The build is layered so a piece this size stays flat on a wall: a quarter-inch maple-faced panel over an MDF core, backed with eighth-inch Baltic birch for stiffness, 3/8 inch thick in total. Each gear ships with its letters and numbers in a different orientation. Ask and we will match them instead, so a room resets the same way every time.

We can change what sits on the teeth: a different character set, another language, or your own artwork on the spokes and body, which is where a room name or sponsor logo usually goes. Engraving goes on one of the spokes. We can also build a mounting backboard with a fixed center dowel so the gear turns true on the wall. How do you use them to send a secret message?
