Tigers & Goats, also known as Bagha Chal, is a traditional two-player strategy game from Nepal. This classic asymmetrical board game has been played for centuries and is designed to challenge players with strategic depth and tactical gameplay.

How to Play

Objective: The game pits four tigers against twenty goats. Tigers win by capturing five goats, while goats win by trapping all tigers.

Game Setup:

The board starts with four tigers placed at the corners.
The 20 goats are kept off the board until placed by the Goat Player.
The Goat Player places one goat per turn, while the Tiger Player moves a tiger.

Movement Rules:

Tigers can move along connected lines to any adjacent open space.
Tigers can capture goats by leaping over them (like checkers), provided there’s an empty space after the goat.
Goats cannot move until all have been placed on the board.
Once all goats are on the board, they may move one space per turn.

Strategic Depth

Bagha Chal is a game of tactical positioning. The Goat Player must work together to corner the tigers, while the Tiger Player must plan aggressive attacks while avoiding entrapment. Key strategies include controlling the diagonal matrix and pushing tigers toward the board’s edge.
