Safecracker 50 is a handcrafted wooden math brain teaser designed and built by Dave Janelle and the family workshop crew in Hudson, Florida. Five rotating rings (one base ring plus four top rings), laser-cut from maple and cherry hardwoods, with deeply laser-engraved numbers. The goal is to align the rings so each of 16 vertical columns sums to 50. There are exactly 1,048,576 ways to align the rings (over a million). Only one is correct.

Palm-sized at just over 5 inches in diameter, small enough to keep on a desk, a nightstand, or a workbench, hard enough to keep coming back to.

Difficulty: Hard. Sixteen times more difficult than Safecracker 40 (which uses four rings to sum 40).
Material: Laser-cut maple and cherry hardwoods, deeply laser-engraved numbers for precision and durability.

This puzzle is GORGEOUS! It’s really well made; the wood is so smooth, the layers glide over one another. And it's the perfect size!

I've heard that this item was small, so I was prepared but didn't expect it to be as small as it looked. It's not a bad thing, and I like how it fits in my palm. The gears all turn perfectly without jamming up. There was a smell from the item, but it doesn't bother me too much.

It is great for what I was looking for but was a little disappointed that the item was not larger. I purchased it for a younger child so the 6 year old knows all his times tables up to 16. The intellect is there but does not have all the motor skills. The picture shows the item sitting on a regular sheet of paper folded in half.
