The interior is felt-lined, 2 1/4 inches square and 2 1/2 inches deep, room for a gift card, a fold of bills, a check, a watch, or a ring. The base is a thick floorboard layer that resists water and scratches, so it can sit out on a shelf or desk and hold small valuables long after the holidays. Overall it is a 4 inch cube, and because the maple is real and hand-finished, the grain and the blue tone vary a little from box to box.
