Description

The Tennis Wood Puzzle is a wooden packing puzzle from our picture-frame series, made for tennis players, coaches, and fans: 21 precision-cut pieces, each a different shape, that lock together inside a tennis-themed frame. It is a genuine brain teaser first and a tennis tribute second, not a printed jigsaw you solve once and box up.

We cut and finish every one of these by hand in our workshop in Hudson, Florida, USA, from a mix of at least four hardwoods, each 1/4 inch thick. Because the woods differ in grain and tone, no two puzzles look exactly alike, and the pieces are cut to a tight fit, so the challenge is real and the finished frame sits flush and clean.

The goal is to fit all 21 pieces flat inside the frame so nothing is left over. You get the puzzle board, all 21 wooden pieces, a wood cover, and an instruction and solution sheet, so the answer is in the box if you get stuck. The frame measures 7.5 inches square, a good size to solve at a table, and the wood cover slides over the top so the finished puzzle stores and gifts like a keepsake, not a game box, worth leaving out on a desk or shelf. To care for it, wipe gently with a soft, dry cloth and keep it in a dry spot so the wood does not warp.

Most tennis gifts are the same mug, towel, or keychain. This one asks something of the person you give it to, so a coach, a club champion, or the friend who never stops talking about their backhand gets something they actually sit down with.
