What is the Here Comes The Sun puzzle?

It is a wooden packing puzzle and one of the most difficult brain teasers we make, despite having just seven pieces. The goal is to fit all seven into their frame, with only one correct arrangement. It was designed by Alexander Beresford of Dual Brain Games and is handcrafted in our Hudson, Florida workshop.

How does it work, and what is the 499-second idea?

You have to pack all seven wood pieces into the tray so they all fit together correctly. The name is a nod to a fact of physics: light from the Sun takes about 8.3 minutes, or 499 seconds, to travel to Earth. The playful challenge is to solve the puzzle in less time than the sunlight took to arrive.

How hard is it, and is a solution included?

Very hard. We call it blindingly difficult, and it is built for experienced solvers who want a real fight. No solution sheet is included, which is deliberate, so you work it out on your own. If you want a nudge, the designer posts hints and walkthroughs on his Dual Brain Games YouTube channel.

Who designed it?

Alexander Beresford, the puzzle designer behind Dual Brain Games, who is known for clever packing and edge-matching puzzles. He created Here Comes The Sun inspired by his daughter Paulina. We build the wooden version by hand in our Hudson, Florida workshop.

What is it made of, and where does it ship from?

It is cut and finished from solid wood by hand in our Hudson, Florida workshop, so the grain varies a little from one copy to the next. Every order ships from our Florida shop, with standard orders on their way within 1 business day.
