Teak Log Trays or Valets - old growth teak salvaged

Starting at: $10.00

These are fascinating and unusual items.  Everyone is unique and they vary alot in style. The are made from old growth teak that has been salvaged from branches or roots of trees felled perhaps decades ago, or in some cases from shipwrecks or old homes.  Teak such is this is nearly indestructable. The grains are dense and the natural oil finish of the teak makes for a wonderful feel.  It is illegal to farm these old growth trees in Thailand where these originate, so the craftsmen who make these search forests for old cuttings to find material to work with.  The supply of these is obviously limited, with the larger items difficult to aquire.  Many of the smaller ones have alot of character.  Each one has a smooth flat spot milled on top. There are lots of uses for these beyonf just display.  We use a large one to hold keys on a chest by the door.  They can be used on a dresser to hold jewelry or change.  But The application I like best is to use them in the bathroom as soap dished. Teak is nearly impervious to water, which is why it was used on the deck of ships.

Avail in 3 sizes. Each pieces is different as they are from real logs and the sizes and shapes vary widely. Small is about 4-6 inches across ; medium is about 6-8 inches, large is about 8-12 inches.
